Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – Home schooling, contact restrictions and closed sports clubs – that was part of everyday life for the children and adolescents in Hesse for a long time during the various corona lockdowns. The state government wants to mitigate the consequences. Today, Wednesday, Minister of Social Affairs Kai Klose (Greens) will present a paper on measures to support children and young people (9.00 a.m.) at the Children’s, Youth and Culture Center in Offenbach. There should be an outlook on planned actions and measures in child and youth work.

In the state parliament, the opposition recently called for better medical care in view of the great psychological stress in the corona pandemic. Advice centers also need more budget, since children are at greater risk of falling victim to domestic violence during the pandemic. The professional association of paediatricians had also warned that there were “psychiatric illnesses on a scale that we have never experienced before”. The ministry referred to increased funding for family centers as well as offers of exchange, information and further training for specialists who had been initiated.
