Gómez highlights the 72,078 doses administered in three days and emphasizes that there are no supply problems
VALENCIA, 11 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, announced this Thursday that next year he will adopt measures to facilitate vaccination against flu from the beginning of the campaign with the aim of “minimizing as much as possible” the tensions that cyclically generate the rebound in infectious diseases in the healthcare system.
Gómez, in statements to the media, thanked in this sense “the solidarity” and “civic responsibility” of Valencians since in these first three days of vaccination without prior appointment a total of 72,078 doses against flu and influenza have been administered. covid since in this way “we will all improve the health system, because when you get vaccinated you not only protect yourself, but it prevents everyone around you from becoming infected.”
For this reason, he explained that, given the success of this measure, next year measures will be applied to speed up vaccination from the beginning of the campaign, although he has declined to specify them because “health planning is dynamic.”
Thus, he has clarified that it is not about bringing forward the start of the campaign that is set by the technicians for each area in anticipation of the arrival of the cold so that the coverage of the vaccines covers the period of low temperatures – in Galicia in September and in the Valencian Community in October–, but to make it easier for people to get vaccinated.
“We must put elements for improvement and avoid complacency to ensure that each year the saturation of care that occurs cyclically is less and look for positive measures so that if it happens, less happens,” said Gómez, who stressed that it is of “learning from these moments of crisis so that patients can prevent the disease and we do not have to be reactive when they have already become ill.”
Gómez has stressed that the General Directorate of Public Health confirms that “there is no incidence” in vaccination in health centers or residences – coverage is reached at 91% – and there are sufficient reserves, which is why he has appealed so that if “any public servant detects any failure, they notify the department to replace them.”
