A lady from Sayabec, in La Matépédia, had a special stay in New Brunswick on Wednesday. She spent several hours in a cell after being arrested by the police who felt that she was not allowed to be in the province.
Louise Boulay traveled to Shippagan this week for work. During the day on June 2, the police arrested her.
“I asked ” why are you arresting me? ” They told me that they were going to explain this to me at the police station,” said Louise Boulay.
When she arrived at the Lamèque Detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the police informed her of the charges that were to be brought against her.
“I said I wouldn’t sign, that I’m not guilty. So she told me that they were going to take me to jail. I said “take me to jail”, “said the lady.
During her imprisonment, Louise Boulay considers that she has been treated unfairly.
“They didn’t give me any food or water. I had no idea how long time has passed except that I felt tired because I have a problem with my heart. I was diagnosed with angina in 2018, ”she explains.
She had to be hospitalized for her condition.
When he left the hospital, the police were waiting for him. She was to leave the province immediately.
“He shouted after me that I had to leave for Quebec tonight. As I was, driving was life threatening, ”says Boulay.
Worried about her friend, Sylva McLauglin did not hesitate to drive her home.
“It took me ten seconds to say to myself ‘OK, I have to take her home.’ They wanted her to drive at night with her medical condition, ”he denounces.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) did not want to comment on the case, but confirmed having apprehended a person on Wednesday.
“The New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety has requested the assistance of the RCMP in connection with a violation of the law on emergency measures that occurred in Caraquet and a person was reportedly arrested,” said Corporal Hans Ouellette, New Brunswick RCMP Media Relations Officer.
Louise Boulay intends to file a complaint with the RCMP in the next few days. She will have to appear in court in August.
