“The specialist day is intended to bring together those affected by Long Covid, Post Covid, ME/CFS and Post-Vac with players in the healthcare system and politics for exchange and discussion,” said the health policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group, Christine Klingohr. Corona is not over yet. While everyday life has returned to normal for the majority of people, many are still suffering from the consequences of the pandemic to this day. The goal remains to provide better care for those affected.
“That’s why we don’t just want to use our specialist days to contribute to better networking between those affected and those involved in the healthcare system. Above all, we want to send a clear signal: You are not alone, we are at your side,” said Klingohr.
Professor Reisinger: Further training for doctors
Emil Reisinger from the Rostock University Medical Center emphasized that the most common symptoms of long- and post-Covid are exhaustion, shortness of breath, cognitive problems and pain. The treating doctors would have to deal with each individual case separately and take each individual situation into account. “With today’s specialist day, doctors can continue their training in this special field.”
The most common symptoms of long- or post-Covid are exhaustion, shortness of breath, cognitive problems and pain. “However, since no pathogenetic mechanism has been confirmed, therapy remains individual and symptomatic. This means that treating doctors must address each individual case separately and take each individual situation into account,” says Reisinger.
According to the Left Party’s health policy spokesman, Torsten Koplin, the focus in Schwerin is particularly on the care of children and young people. “Those affected and their relatives still describe that they are sometimes met with a lack of understanding. We want to change that for our state,” he said.

1. Christine Klingohr, Health Policy Spokesperson for the SPD Parliamentary Group:
Q: Can you please provide more information on the purpose behind organizing this specialist day for Long Covid and similar illnesses? What are some of the main objectives that the SPD and the Left government factions hope to achieve through this initiative?
A: Absolutely. Christine, we understand that the specialist day is aimed at raising awareness about Long Covid and similar illnesses, as well as initiating a network for those affected. Can you expand on this further? How do you plan to involve various stakeholders such as healthcare providers, politicians, and individuals in the discussions?
Q: In what ways do you see this specialist day contributing to better care for those dealing with Long Covid or Post-Covid syndrome? What are some of the challenges that doctors and healthcare professionals face while treating these patients, and how do you plan to address them?
A: Great question. We’re interested in understanding your thoughts on the nature of the challenges that doctors and healthcare professionals face while treating patients with Long Covid or Post-Covid syndrome. Do you believe there’s a need for further training and education in this area, and if so, how do you envision this being done?
Q: You mentioned that the pandemic isn’t over yet, and many people are still suffering from its consequences. What more can the government do to support those affected by Long Covid and similar illnesses? Are there any specific programs or policies that you would like to see implemented to improve their quality of life?
2. Professor Emil Reisinger from the Rostock University Medical Center:
Q: Professor Reisinger, can you provide insight into the common symptoms of Long Covid and similar illnesses? How do these symptoms differ from those experienced during the acute phase of the disease? How do you handle treatment for each individual case, given that no pathogenetic mechanism has been confirmed?
A: Thank you for sharing your expertise. It’s clear that the treatment of Long Covid and similar illnesses requires an individualized approach. Could you expand on the role of doctors and healthcare professionals
