The new composition of Pharmaceutical Benefit Financing Advisory Committee (CAPF) It is very close to becoming public. As Diariofarma has learned, as of today the only thing missing is to determine one’s nameor one, member thereof, although the identity of any of them has not been revealed.
In this sense, it has not been possible to determine for this newspaper whether the Ministry opts for a complete renewal or if it takes advantage of the experience accumulated in the CAPF by Ana Ortegavice president, and Jaume Puig-Junoyvowel, so that there is a transition.
The process would have started a long time ago, but the need to preparation of a ministerial order for this purpose, and concatenation of casualties throughout the last few months, which forced us to restart a new search for candidates with each new resignation; along with the legislative and regulatory agenda that the General Directorate of the Common Portfolio of SNS and Pharmacy Services is facing; and all this, together with the departure of Carlos Martín Saborido from it, has caused it to lengthen.
Regarding the resignations, Diariofarma has been able to confirm that they have occurred due to personal situations in each of the cases and all of them different, which were not related in themselves to the CAPF. However, it is also important to note that there have been circumstances, such as the duration of the appointment (more than five years), the lack of remuneration or the incompatibilitieswhich have not helped retain members. In any case, the members of this Committee feel satisfied with the work developed.
This good assessment of the work carried out is also seen from the Ministry of Health, which has taken into account many of their contributions and has positively valued their reports and work. In this sense, it should be noted that In no case have the reports stopped receiving mandatory by the CAPF in matters such as the latest projects of the Royal Decree on selective financing of health products or the Royal Decree on the Assessment of Health Technologies. For this reason, Health sources recognize that The situation is “urgent”although they reject that it is “critical”, as Diariofarma described it.
This newspaper was also aware of the good assessment that the Secretary of State for Health, Javier Padillahad on the CAPF. A few months ago, Padilla had in mind that in its renewal there would be “more youth and more women”. This could be another element that could have delayed the appointment of members, although the initial formation was four men, one of them president, and three women.
