A health insurer must reimburse an alternative to the usual ADHD drugs. The Court of Appeal of ‘s-Hertogenbosch decided this after the pharmacy that prepares this alternative filed a lawsuit against the insurer. This is reported by Jurisprudence.nl.

Sometimes doctors prescribe the alternative ADD drug in question if a patient gets too many side effects from the usual drug. The health insurer refuses to reimburse this drug prepared by the pharmacy to its policyholders, because equivalent ADD drugs are already in circulation.
No additional requirements
The pharmacy believes that its medication should be prescribed and reimbursed if this conventional medication causes too many side effects. In addition, the pharmacy is of the opinion that the insurer is acting unlawfully towards the pharmacy when patients are prescribed this drug by doctors. The insurer is also not allowed to impose additional requirements in this regard, the court also finds.
