The Israeli group IMS GER, promoter of some fifteen large specialized hospitals between Morocco and Equatorial Guinea, is considering improving the provision of care in Gabon. The subject was the subject, at the end of last week, of a meeting between the CEO of this structure and the Gabonese Minister of Health.
The CEO of IMS GER, Ovadia Yardena, met on September 6, 2024 in Libreville with the Minister of Health, Adrien Mougougou. The Israeli group came to propose to the member of the government a possible partnership offer for the construction of modern hospitals and especially to equip the country’s health structures with the most recent technical platforms. This offer is part of the innovative initiatives aimed at developing health infrastructure in Gabon.
«Israel is a great country, particularly in terms of health and the provision of care and infrastructure in the field of health. We believe that it is a partner that can allow us to have or raise the level of care provision in our country. And this is all the admiration that we must have towards the head of state who manages to bring us partners of this type, because it is through his leadership that these partners come to us.“, said Professor Adrien Mougougou.
The Israeli group’s experience in the field of health infrastructure could indeed bring a breath of fresh air to this sector in Gabon, by improving patient care. A working group composed of officials from both parties will be set up to refine the offer to be examined during the Gabonese Minister of Health’s visit to Tel Aviv next October.
This connection occurs in a context where, in Gabon, patient service is still criticized by the population. Several health facilities lack first aid medications. It is indeed a good thing to build new facilities to accommodate patients, but what do we do with the old ones where everything is lacking? The case of the University Hospital of Libreville (CHUL), the largest health facility in the country, is instructive in this regard: it is difficult to find cotton, a syringe, etc. In the emergency room, for example, the patient must provide everything for first aid. As a result, the transitional authorities are taking a new look at this problem, because the restoration of institutions also involves this key sector.
