Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – After the ban on several planned actions in the surrounding area, a “lateral thinking” meeting in front of the Old Synagogue in Freiburg is not allowed. The city had originally allowed them under certain conditions. In the meantime, however, there are new police findings that, due to the cancellations in other places, more than 1000 participants are expected instead of the registered 200, the city announced.

The attempt of the initiators to overturn the ban on a “lateral thinking” demonstration in Weil am Rhein with registered 3570 participants had previously failed. Corresponding applications to the administrative courts were unsuccessful. On Saturday morning, the Federal Constitutional Court then rejected an urgent application.

The police said they were on duty to prevent possible unauthorized gatherings. According to a spokeswoman, there were initially no special incidents.
