Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – According to the assessment of the administrative court in Freiburg, an extension of the blocking period is suitable to fight the corona pandemic. The judges rejected urgent requests by two restaurateurs against the general ruling in force in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district and in Freiburg. The restaurateurs from Freiburg and Müllheim had complained that the operation of restaurants between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the district and in Freiburg is prohibited.
With the ruling, the administrative judges confirmed the extension of the blocking period, which the health department had decided for the district and for the city of Freiburg on October 21. As the court announced on Tuesday, this step will help reduce contacts, which in turn will limit opportunities for the virus to be transmitted.
The restaurateurs had questioned the sense of the extended curfew, as the regulation would lead to a shift towards private celebrations. The court disagreed, arguing that private celebrations of more than ten people are also prohibited under the country’s Corona regulation. In addition, it cannot necessarily be assumed that guests of pubs and bars will continue to celebrate in private rooms after the curfew has started. The resolutions are not yet final.
