Situbondo. Tuberculosis (TB) still needs serious attention from all parties because until now TB is the infectious disease with the highest mortality in Indonesia. TB is transmitted through droplets, namely fluids or splashes of saliva that a person expels from their nose or mouth when sneezing, coughing and talking. The prevalence of cases in Indonesia reaches 44 per 100 thousand population per year. The results of the screening carried out recorded that there were 4,400 patients with TB RO (drug resistant), 52,929 TB children and 7,729 TB patients with HIV.
Certain groups of people have a high risk of contracting TB, such as babies, the elderly, people infected with HIV/Aids, diabetes and autoimmune sufferers. Apart from that, people who live in crowded housing such as crowded and cramped housing, shelters, dormitories, prisons/remand centers have a high risk of transmission. The bacteria that cause TB can survive in rooms that are dark, damp and do not have enough ventilation. One special place that needs attention is prisons/remand centers.
The Class IIB Situbondo State Detention Center, East Java Regional Office, is also known to have exceeded capacity. Therefore, the Situbondo Detention Center Clinic monitors the health conditions of inmates, especially those affected by TB disease.
Health checks for TB sufferers include monitoring body weight, assessing complaints related to taking TB medication and of course ensuring that the medication is taken straight away. “When the inspection was carried out, the condition of the inmates was good and healthy,” said the nurse
Situbondo District Head, Rudi Kristiawan, said “This health check aims to optimize health services, especially for inmates who are sick, in fact this service is not only available for sick people, even those who are not sick can carry out health control at the clinic such as checking blood pressure, blood sugar and gout. , Cholesterol etc. “We, Situbondo Detention Center, will always be committed to providing excellent service,” said Rudi
The activities have been reported by Karutan Situbondo and received support from the Head of the East Java Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Heni Yuwono, who also appreciated the services provided “I hope that Situbondo Detention Center can be consistent in carrying out health programs that are oriented towards prevention and recovery,” said Heni
