Health – Dusseldorf – City day: clarity in mandatory facility-related vaccination – Health

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) – In the case of facility-related vaccination requirements, the chairman of the NRW city council, Essen Mayor Thomas Kufen (CDU), is asking for clarity on the future of the regulation soon. “Cities are calling for a quick decision by the state and federal government on how to proceed with the mandatory vaccination of the facility,” said Kufen of the “Rheinische Post” (Monday). Vaccination has been mandatory since March, for example in hospitals, doctors’ offices and nursing homes. Those who are not vaccinated against the coronavirus risk a fine of up to 2,500 euros. An entry ban is also possible. According to the current state, the regulation expires at the end of this year.

“The closer to the end of the year, the more questionable it is, for example, whether employee entry bans are still appropriate,” said Kufen. For new hires in the health and care sector, vaccination should remain mandatory before starting work. “This would increase the number of employees in these sensitive industries who are willing to protect themselves and others with new vaccines.” This is important, because repeated vaccination will remain important in view of the future emergence of more dangerous viral variants.
