Health – Dresden – Stricter measures in Saxony on Christmas days – Health

Dresden (dpa / sn) – Because of the high number of corona infections, people in Saxony have to celebrate Christmas with significant restrictions. It was previously planned that ten people could meet over the Christmas holidays, from now until December 26th only four more people from the closest family or friends are allowed to join the household. Children under the age of 14 are not counted.

“I would like people to handle it responsibly. And that they understand and forego visits as much as possible – even if they were theoretically possible,” said Saxony’s Minister of Health Petra Köpping (SPD). The renunciation and the distance are still the most effective weapon against the virus at the moment. “So it would be better to do without family contacts at Christmas 2020 so that everyone can be together again in 2021.”

In addition, night exit restrictions apply. This means that the apartment may only be left with a valid reason, for example to work or to go shopping. In addition, it is mandatory to wear a mask in public spaces where people meet, as well as a ban on alcohol in public. The curfew does not apply on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. Attending a church service on Christmas days is also considered a valid reason.
