Dresden (dpa / sn) – Saxony is considering relaxing the corona from February 15. The question of how to deal with the gradual opening of schools and daycare centers is just as much on the agenda as Click and Collect or the opening of hairdressers, said Vice Prime Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) on Tuesday after the cabinet meeting. The traceability of infections is the decisive criterion. For easing, the seven-day incidence must be below 100 and have a “safe downward perspective”. The plan is to start with a few changes on February 15, “if the conditions are right”. Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping (SPD) brought up the lifting of the night curfew.
In any case, the government wants to obtain the expertise of scientists beforehand. When it comes to opening up, four factors would play a role: coordination with the federal and state governments, developments in the Saxon neighbors, mutations in the virus and the burden on health authorities. According to Köpping, perspective planning does not only have to show steps towards opening up. You also have to react quickly if infections increase again. “We should stay cautious in Saxony.” Nobody wants a situation like in November or December anymore. At that time, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days nationwide was more than 400. On Tuesday the value was 120.9.
“When we talk about a perspective plan, it’s not just about what will happen immediately after February 15,” said Dulig. In general, the question is how things develop when the number of infections drops, what sequence of steps you then follow: “We will continue to have to live with restrictions in the next few months. That is why a perspective plan is not a pure exit scenario after February 15th.”
The Deputy Prime Minister Wolfram Günther (Greens) saw the government in a dilemma in its decisions. On the one hand, there are many things that cannot be foreseen in the course of the pandemic. At the same time, society needs perspective and clarity. The cabinet does not discuss this in a vacuum, but also coordinates with the federal government. Children and schools would be high on the agenda in the debate about opening up.
The Dresden FDP member of the Bundestag Torsten Herbst accused the Saxon government of lack of plan. “Unlike the concrete opening concept of the state of Schleswig-Holstein or the step-by-step plan for Italian regions, the Saxon state government does not create any commitment or reliability for the next steps.” In a first step, the massive restrictions on fundamental rights such as the night curfew and the 15 kilometer radius would have to be lifted immediately. In addition, daycare centers and primary schools with protection concepts should reopen as soon as possible.
