The Dominican Academy of Medicine held a panel with prominent doctors from various specialties to update the medical community on breast cancer. The meeting had the support of the Human in Health program, of Grupo Humano, and was carried out in face-to-face and virtual mode.
The panel was moderated by Dr. Ramón Pérez Martínez, president of the academy, who thanked the entire medical class for the support of the initiative and reported that the conclusions of the meeting will be compiled in a document that will include the recommendations of the societies. specialized doctors, the three institutions that work at the national level with cancer and the academy, with the purpose of offering an updated guide to health authorities in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer and other neoplasms.
The panel of experts was made up of Dr. Mario Fulcar, president of the Dominican Society of Oncological Surgery; Dr. Miguel Monanci, president of the Dominican Society of Hematology and Oncology; Dr. Naly Cruz, president of the Dominican Society of Radiotherapy Oncology; Dr. Keidairy Adames, Imaging; Dr. José Miguel Gómez, psychiatrist, and Dr. Adrián Puello, epidemiologist.
The panelists provided updated information, including statistics, figures, new diagnostic options, and therapeutic tools for the management of breast cancer.
The doctors agreed that, for the management of breast cancer, a multidisciplinary team must be integrated and that between the doctors and the patient there must be assertive and humane communication.
