“Tocarte las Mamas es Vida”, with this printed slogan, ladies from different social strata came to the Cecilip clinic to get a sonomamography for free, thanks to the initiative of the surgeons Tania Medina and Pablo García.
The surgeon also informs that this day, in addition to being born from the initiative to raise awareness about breast cancer, has been motivated by the family history of cancer. “In my family there is a history of ovarian cancer which is one of the risk factors for breast cancer, my grandmother died of this and my grandfather died of prostate cancer,” he reported.
It ensures that early detection prevents breast cancer from having a fatal outcome. At the same time, he calls on women to touch their breasts since early diagnosis makes a difference.
Thanks to this type of activities for the early detection of breast cancer, many lives have been saved, since after the positive diagnosis they have sought timely help and have overcome the disease, commented the specialist.
During the activity, which was held at the Center for Plastic Surgery and Liposculpture (Cecilip), Dr. Pablo García, surgeon bariatric, expressed his satisfaction to see how each year more people join this project and more people come to the conference in search of knowing their health status regarding breast cancer. “For us, this is extremely important, and that is why we are trying to do everything possible so that each day surpasses the previous one.”
The communicators Zoila Luna and Yuberkis Peralta were present on this day, offering their support and performing the sonomamography, in a call to all Dominicans to carry out the diagnostic study. “Many women don’t check themselves out for fear of finding an answer. We need more education and more awareness. This preventive issue is essential for women to break their fear of touching themselves, also from a religious point of view, many women believe that touching is wrong ”, says Zoila Luna.
