It is part of “the first wave” of vaccination centers to be installed in the Doubs. This is good news. Even if, compared to the current situation, but also in comparison with Besançon (last Thursday), Montbéliard (Friday) and Morteau (next Wednesday), some would have preferred not to have lost a week for its implementation. But this time for sure: Wednesday 13 January, the Covid-19 vaccination center will welcome its first volunteers in Pontarlier. Finally !

Health professionals first

The center will be located at the Capucins complex, in the premises usually reserved for the Bel’Âge club. Quite a symbol, even if for the moment, it is first of all the health professionals who will be able to come to receive the first of the two injections of the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech.

Note that firefighters and hospital staff will be vaccinated by their own care, in their own structures. “But that still leaves a large population to be vaccinated since in the Doubs, there are 2,000,” says Laure Jagielo, the co-chair of the Professional Territorial Health Community (CPTS), the organization in charge of vaccination.

The waste hunt

Open from Wednesday (8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.), the center should quickly find its cruising speed, but will have to deal with the constraints of the Pfizer vaccine and these famous -80 ° C. “The vaccine is stored in Besançon and we will receive 100 doses on Wednesday and 100 more on Thursday. But the important thing is not to vaccinate at a loss since an open vial contains 5 vaccines. And once opened, we have five days to administer them, otherwise they will be lost, ”continues Laure Jagielo. Before adding that the demand is however very high.

Go quickly to phase 2

The co-president of the CPTS confides that she and her team hope to rapidly vaccinate these nursing staff “to pass just as quickly to phase 2”. Which will then concern the population and initially, as announced and prioritized, seniors aged 75 and over residing at home. For them and the rest of the population who want to be vaccinated, a little more patience …
