The ministry of Health of the Canary islands Government, through the Instituto Canario de Hemodonación y Hemoterapia (ICHH), has requested the collaboration of the blood donors with blood groups A+, 0+, 0 -, and-, for increasing the stock after the holiday period which tends to decrease the reserves.
In this sense, the ICHH encouraged people to donate because some of the affected groups, as is the case of the 0-, “can only receive blood of the same group”, as reported by the canary islands Government in the press release.
In this way, the ICHH has promoted the measures “specific remedial as usual,” addressing the blood donors of that group that are registered on its database via SMS and reinforcing outputs extraordinary of the mobile units on the normal schedule to “capture the largest number of donors possible, and to facilitate the donation”.
In connection with this, recall that the requirements to donate blood are focused to fulfill the legal age to donate, that is to say, be between 18 and 65 years, weigh more than 50 pounds, have good health and, if it is a woman, not be pregnant.
Also, it states that the fixed points of donation that can go in the case of Gran Canaria located at calle Alfonso XIII of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, number 4, Monday from 09.15 to 20.30 hours and from Tuesday to Friday from 08.15 to 21.30 hours (with vado for donors) and the fixed point II, located at Hospiten Rock Neighborhood, whose schedule is Tuesday from 15.45 to 20.15 and Wednesday from 08.45 to 13.45 hours.
In addition you can go, in a general way, to other fixed points of the Network Transfusion Canaria Hospital Universitario Materno-Infantil de Canarias Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.30 hours; the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrin, on Monday, from 08.30 to 13.15 and from 14.00 to 19.45 and from Tuesday to Friday from 08.30 to 14.15 and 14.00 to 19.45 and the Hospital Universitario Insular of Gran Canaria, where you can donate Monday, from 10.00 to 13.30 and from 15.30 to 20.00 and from Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 to 13.30 and from 15.30 to 21.00 hours.
In the case of the fixed points of Tenerife, you can donate at the headquarters of the ICHH of the calle Méndez Núñez of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, number 14, Monday 09.15-20.30 and Tuesday to Friday from 08.15 to 21.30 hours. Also draws will be performed in the health center of San Isidro, in Granadilla de Abona, on Monday from 14.00 to 19.30, from Tuesday to Thursday from 13.00 to 19.30 and Friday 08.00 to 14.30 hours.
You can also donate at the University Hospital of the Canary islands from Sunday to Friday and public holidays from 08.30 to 21.30 and Saturday from 08.30 to 14.30 and from 15.30 to 20.00, and at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria, from Monday to Friday 08.00 to 20.00 and on Saturday from 09.00 to 13.00 hours.
To do this, add the mobile units of the Instituto Canario de Hemodonación y Hemoterapia that will be this week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (in the calle Triana from Monday to Friday and at other points of the city), as well as in Agüimes and Santa Brígida from Monday to Wednesday, and in The Vega de San Mateo on Sunday.
There will also be another mobile unit that will travel to Lanzarote, where it will remain from Monday to Thursday, in Yaiza, and Friday in San Bartolomé.
In the case of the island of Tenerife, the mobile units will be located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; while in The Lagoon will be on Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Also will be present from Monday to Friday in Los Realejos, on Wednesday, in the Castle area of Garachico; while another unit will come on Wednesday and Thursday to Candelaria.
