Health begins this Monday the meningitis vaccination of young people born between 2001 and 2007 | Radio Murcia

Boys and girls between 14 and 20 years old will be able to receive the vaccine against meningococcus, which causes diseases and infections such as meningitis, at the vaccination points established against Covid, starting next Monday.

This campaign is part of the decision taken in 2019 by the health authorities to replace the meningococcal serogroup C vaccine in the calendar with that of serogroups A, C, W and Y, which has been administered at the age of eleven since that year.

Thus, children born between 2001 and 2007, who already received meningococcal serogroup C, with this campaign will also be inoculated with the most complete one, which is effective against four serotypes, although it is administered in a single prick.

For their part, those born in 2008 and 2009 have already received this vaccine, and those in 2010 will receive it in schools in the school vaccination campaign throughout the first school term of the 2021-2022 academic year.

To get vaccinated, you must make an appointment. Users of the Murcian Health Service can do so through ‘https://sms.carm.es/cmap/‘, the App by appointment or at your health center. Mutual members (MUFACE, ISFAS, MUGEJU) have to request it by calling ‘968 368 494’.

The vaccines will be administered from this Monday at the mass vaccination points corresponding to the municipality of residence. A minimum interval of seven days is necessary after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine.

Those young people who cannot get close to one of these vaccination points can also make an appointment to receive the meningococcal vaccine, between October and December, at their health center.

The Ministry of Health is also preparing the next flu vaccination campaign. It will have 360,000 doses, a figure similar to that of previous campaigns against this disease.
