The Ministry of Health and Population implemented awareness campaigns in 22 ministries and agencies under the slogan «You organized», which was launched in December 2022 with the aim of raising awareness of women and men of childbearing age, by presenting new ideas and information on family planning and reproductive health.
This comes within the framework of the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to work to raise awareness and spread messages and concepts of family planning and reproductive health to all segments of society, and within the activities of the project to strengthen Egypt’s family planning program, in cooperation with the John Snow Agency and USAID.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the ministry, explained the health And the population, that “Nezmati” awareness campaigns target 500,000 women working in the state’s administrative apparatus and of childbearing age, through 32 ministries, pointing to the delivery of reproductive health and family planning messages through seminars and service convoys, and through mobile clinics that are supported by a trained medical team. At the highest level to provide free family planning counseling and services.
Abdul Ghaffar added that the initiative has been implemented so far in 22 ministries and agencies, where between 30 and 40 trainees are being trained in each ministry to train 50 women from the circle of knowledge of each trainer, both male and female, to work on raising awareness, using the leaflet, which carries messages Important and hotline numbers, and a barcode for distinguished services, pointing out that the leaflet and its colors raise the level of awareness of the types of pregnancy that represent a danger to pregnant women.
Abdel Ghaffar added that the leaflet bears a barcode for referral centers and places that provide modern methods services such as hormonal IUDs and capsules nationwide. Reproductive health and family planning services provided by the Ministry, in addition to the free landline hotline 08008880800 and the family development hotline 19559 from any mobile for free.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, Head of the Population and Family Planning Sector, said that the second campaign of the Equal Opportunity Unit in the Population and Family Planning Sector, under the name “Girls’ Reproductive Health”, provides all the health information that concerns the girl during her reproductive life before marriage, and how to take care of her reproductive health. And optimal and healthy dealings, while providing the correct information through the channels of the Ministry of Health.
Abbas continued, “The girls’ reproductive health campaign focuses on preventing all harmful practices against girls, such as early marriage, female genital mutilation, harassment of all kinds, and preventing bullying among girls inside and outside the family, in addition to raising awareness of all internet crimes and electronic extortion for girls. The campaign also introduces paths of resorting to legitimate channels.” To protect her right and deter the perpetrators of these crimes, in addition to spreading the concepts of prevention and response and providing full support for girls to create a generation that enjoys equality and empowerment between men and women.
Dr. Souad Abdel-Meguid, Head of the Central Department for Follow-up, Evaluation and Planning, indicated that the Equal Opportunities Unit targets the geographical location to which the campaign is directed, by setting up a fast service line for holders of the Equal Opportunity slogan, to provide services to them quickly to achieve the satisfaction of the beneficiaries, adding that the Equal Opportunities Unit recommends that all ministries consider Those who have been trained are ambassadors for health education in their ministries, providing a suitable environment for them to disseminate their information among their colleagues, providing them with educational aids and pamphlets, and solving any problems faced by service recipients.
And she noted that more activities will be carried out targeting young people because they represent the strength and majority in the population pyramid in the Arab Republic of Egypt, as more than 60% of the population in Egypt is under the age of 30, pointing out that these campaigns come within a series of awareness-raising for various categories.
