The Ministry of Health and Population announced the start of implementing the President’s initiative to “Examination of those about to get marriedToday, Sunday, under the slogan “100 million health”, in the context of ensuring that Egypt is free from infectious diseases transmitted between spouses, and reducing mortality rates resulting from noncommunicable diseases, and in an effort to reduce the chances of future generations being exposed to genetic diseases.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the initiative targets those intending to marry, Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt, to conduct a medical examination and obtain a health certificate, noting the need to conduct analyzes at least 14 days before the date of completion of the marriage to obtain on the results of the analyzes.

Abdul Ghaffar revealed that the initiative includes a package of medical examinations for those about to get married, for the early detection of many infectious and non-communicable diseases, to ensure that they are free of diseases that may affect them in the future or the possibility of disease transmission between them.

Abdel Ghaffar indicated that the initiative’s services are available in 300 medical centers and units, at the rate of at least one medical center within each health department, throughout the official working days, starting from nine in the morning until two in the afternoon, indicating the availability of a medical team specialized in providing initiative services. Each medical unit and center consists of (a doctor, a nurse, and a lab technician).

For his part, Dr. Wael Abdel Razek, Head of the Health Care and Nursing Sector, said that the medical examinations provided by the initiative include detection of noncommunicable diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity), as well as detection of infectious diseases (virus B, virus C, HIV). Human), in addition to conducting analyzes (blood type, Rh, hemoglobin).

And «Abdul Razek» added that in the event that infection with any diseases is discovered, the referral system is applied and the two parties are directed to receive the necessary medical services and treatment, in a way that limits the complications of infection for the affected party, as well as preventing the transmission of infection to the other party, and in the case of negative all examinations, both parties are encouraged to develop a prevention plan. of noncommunicable diseases and communicable diseases.

He pointed out that the initiative also includes providing counseling and health education services for those about to get married, which are characterized by complete confidentiality and confidentiality between the service provider and the counseling seeker, with the aim of helping in making decisions related to his health and the health of his family.

Dr. Wael Abdel Razek said that health education services also include advice on marriage and reproductive health, including education regarding normal marital relations, correcting misconceptions and beliefs, and providing both parties with information about some infectious diseases that are sexually transmitted in the event that one of the parties is infected, in addition to their definition. With information about some infectious diseases that can be transmitted to the fetus, as well as introducing them to family planning methods, and appropriate methods for organizing the first pregnancy.
