Health and Wellness: find out what vaccination against covid-19 will look like in children under 5 | News

Later this month, Minsa will begin immunizing children under 5 against the coronavirus, a long-awaited vaccine from thousands of parents who want to protect their children from this disease that has claimed millions of lives worldwide.

After various scientific studies and verifications, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have authorized the application of the covid-19 vaccine for this group of children.

In Peru, the estimated population of children who are expected to receive the covid-19 vaccine is 2 million 493,000 children aged 6 months to 4 years, 11 months and 29 days across the country.

As specified by Minsa, this age group will receive the modern vaccine and it will be applied in two doses of 0.25 ml each. The second dose will be applied 28 days after the first injection.

As for the effectiveness of vaccines, medical research indicates that, in the vast majority, they are on the border between 70% and 80%. While, for children it can reach up to 92%.

Are vaccines safe? What happens if you don’t get vaccinated with the second dose? What side effects might they experience? What to do if you have a fever? The first? If the child has a cold, can he be vaccinated? Along with the covid-19 vaccine, can the child receive another type of vaccine?

All these questions will be answered by María Elena Martínez through the Health and Wellbeing program on Friday 16 September at 3pm via Facebook live. Take part in your live consultations by taking advantage of the presence of the specialist who will tell us everything there is to know about vaccination for children under 5 years of age.
