To compensate for the cancellation of collections in companies and universities, teams are forced to innovate. The results are excellent.

Blood donation tries to get out of hospitals to modernize its image and ultimately reach a new population.

After the disco, the museums. Blood donation is constantly reinventing itself. In recent months, collections have been organized at MAD in Lausanne. From Monday, they reach the museums. A first in French-speaking Switzerland. “We received a tremendous welcome from several institutions,” says Véronique Coppey-Uster, communications officer for the Interregional Transfusion CRS, the body that manages the blood supply for the cantons of Bern, Valais and Vaud. The first meeting is scheduled for Monday March 29 between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Palais de Rumine. New collections are being discussed with the Alimentarium in Vevey and at the Olympic Museum.
Since the start of the health crisis, the CRS has faced the cancellation of collections in companies and universities. This has led him to innovate by settling in new places. “We are thus attracting new donors,” notes Véronique Coppey-Uster. We have seen it at MAD, they often tend to come back to the same place. “

Those who fear the needle sometimes find the courage to take the plunge, motivated by the atmosphere that reigns in Lausanne disco, although it is closed to its usual clientele. “The MAD, like museums will be, is a less sanitized place than our collection centers”, underlines the communications officer. Ultimately, donating blood rejuvenates its image.
Meetings in museums should increase in the future. Collections are scheduled on days when institutions are closed. This means that donors will not be able to visit the exhibition, even if they will have an extended view of the room where the collection of the regulatory 450 ml of blood will take place.
The CRS is constantly looking for blood for the needs of hospitals. He reminds us that accident victims are not the only ones who need this precious biological fluid. The latter is also vital for many cancer patients, for mothers during childbirth or during simple operations.
