We students of the IISS Charles Darwin of Rome share the uneasiness and perplexities, expressed in the letters of other institutes of the capital, in relation to the return in the presence of secondary schools. School is certainly synonymous with education, training, sharing, socialization and we are convinced that Teaching in Presence is the best form of learning, but we are also sure that reopening in the current epidemiological situation of the country, in which cases contagion are not negligible, it is not an acceptable solution.
We are convinced that without concrete actions aimed at guaranteeing the safety and health of us students, our teachers and all the staff who work in the School, there is no possibility of a return in presence that is not in total safety, as from March 2020 to today the situation has not changed and / or improved and the risk of contagion remains high, in anticipation of a possible third wave.
We also believe that the methods of organizing the shifts and school schedules proposed are unacceptable, as they would lead to a disruption of the daily rhythms of us students, as well as of the professors: attending school also on Saturdays and ending lessons at around 16.00 would mainly cause discomfort not negligible, to safely carry out the tasks assigned by the teachers during the week with the consequent renunciation of any extra-curricular activity.
We also point out that with a partial home-school Dad there persists a widespread problem of connection to the network in the classrooms of most institutes, which makes it difficult to carry out and learn the lessons of the group of students who are at home. .
Furthermore, the lack of a concrete operational plan for public transport does not guarantee safety, but exposes us to a high risk of contagion, in anticipation of a greater influx generated by the inability of many parents to be able to accompany their children to school. , in relation to the new proposed shifts.
Hoping that our requests will be taken into consideration, we ask for the conditions for a return in presence in total safety and, in the absence of them, continue the use of distance learning at 100% until they are guaranteed.
