The National Institute for Food and Drug Surveillance (Invima) has issued a worrying health alert due to the illegal marketing of the yellow fever vaccine in Colombia. The vaccine, known as “yellow fever vaccine – 1 ml”, is offered as a biological product to prevent the disease, however, it does not have an authorized health registry.
The lack of health registration has serious implications for the health of consumers. The vaccine has not been subjected to evaluations in terms of quality, safety and efficacy, which makes it a high-risk product for those who receive it. Crucial aspects, such as its composition and the appropriate conditions for its storage, transport and distribution, remain unknown due to the absence of official registration.

The most alarming thing is that the vaccine does not come from the “Delta” laboratory, which is listed on the product label. Invima has confirmed that “Laboratorios Delta®” has not manufactured, imported or marketed this vaccine in the country. Therefore, its commercialization under this name is illegal and further increases the danger of its consumption.
Faced with this delicate situation, the authorities make a strong call to the public to take extreme precautions when vaccinating. It is crucial to always verify the type of biological they are receiving and refrain from acquiring any vaccine that does not have a health registry.
To protect yourself adequately, it is essential to go only to health centers and entities authorized to receive the yellow fever vaccine. These institutions have the endorsement of the authorities and ensure that the biologicals provided meet the necessary quality and safety standards.
