Consultations and immediate care of Lauragais (Cosil). This is the name of the brand new service which is due to open its doors from Monday 1is March 2021 in the premises of the Monié clinic, situated at Villefranche-de-Lauragais.
This unit will be installed in brand new premises, built during last fall and whose commissioning was anticipated by a few weeks to be able to accommodate since January 18 the Covid-19 vaccination center.
Management of non-vital emergencies
The opening of Cosil aims to offer the inhabitants of Lauragais, over extended hours, the management of small non-vital emergencies in addition to the healthcare offer provided by general practitioners in the sector.
“This project is part of the policy of reorganizing emergency services. The objective is in particular to better regulate minor emergencies by allowing people whose vital prognosis is not engaged and who are generally able to to travel on their own to Cosil, to be treated locally. “
Monday to Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Placed under the doctor’s coordination Gwenaël Frassa, Cosil will be able to rely on a expanded technical platform to offer patients efficient care.
Initially, the reception will be assured Monday to Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., thanks to the simultaneous presence of a doctor, a nurse and a secretary.
–Cosil premises will house four boxes dedicated to unscheduled care and a consultation Cabinet.
“In a unit like this, out of a volume of 100 patients, 90 to 95 will go back to their homes after being able to be taken care of, most of the time for trauma, thanks to suitable premises and equipment that we allows to perform radiology, ultrasound … And there will be 5 to 10% of patients who will require transfer to other institutions. “
Towards the “local hospital” label
In a few months, the Monié clinic table on a ramp-up of Cosil activity. “The project is part of what is called the gradation of hospital care, some of which can be provided in the vicinity”, notes Paul Gémar.
The establishment has thus set itself several objectives such as obtaining the label “Proximity hospital” which would make it possible, by obtaining funding, to consolidate its mission in terms of primary care on the scale of the Lauragais territory.
An evolution that is therefore part of the dynamic of decompartmentalization of the organization of care between hospital and city medicine.
–A scanner to take a new step?
The other great ambition of the director of Monié clinic, Paul Gémar, is to be able to take a new step in welcoming a scanner in the clinic within a few months.
“The idea is that a scanner will eventually be needed to be able to respond to the challenge of developing this emergency service to offer a range of care to the inhabitants of Lauragais that allows them to avoid certain trips. until Toulouse. We are waiting for a window to open, certainly in 2021, to allow us to obtain this authorization to have a scanner. “
An observation which is also made by the doctor Michel Dutech, president of the Territorial professional health community (CPTS) which also includes the Monié clinic. “The scanner is a fundamental element of modern medicine. For certain tissue problems or certain traumatic injuries, radiology is sometimes not sufficient ”, explains the doctor of Nailloux.
An asset to strengthen the healthcare offer in the region
This new treatment offer, which will be offered from 1is March in terms of taking charge of small emergencies but also the development prospects of Cosil’s activity more broadly within the framework of health project under development across the Terres du Lauragais territory.
“An increase in Cosil’s activity will inevitably play on the attractiveness of the territory for health professionals. When we have a local hospital with a highly developed technical platform, this necessarily encourages general practitioners to settle. This is how we will strengthen the healthcare offer in this territory which is also experiencing strong demographic growth, ”concludes Paul Gémar.
