Children, adults or even the elderly. Who has never felt pain, small or intense?
Since its creation in 2004, the Apicil Foundation has been fighting against physical and psychological pain at all ages. In April 2023, it launched a call for projects among caregivers who work in nursing homes, geriatric services or at home in rural and urban areas.
Out of 130 projects received, “13 winners were designated with a grant of 100,000 euros distributed among the winners”, according to Nathalie Aulnette, director of the Apicil Foundation. Among these 13 winners, the Loire is represented by the program “detecting pain in the elderly and practicing touch massage”. Manon Boucher is the coordinator within the Maison France Services du Pilat rhodanien.
The program is based on the training of 24 professionals in helping the elderly, mainly in the rural sector. Contact, communication, comfort and relief are the key words in this learning of massage touch.
The Apicil Foundation awards him a prize of 14,400 euros. According to Manon Boucher, the training of nursing assistants allows “the enhancement of their practice by improving knowledge of pain and a quality relational approach.”
