VIVA – For COVID-19 survivors, the desire to fully recover sometimes requires struggle, because post-COVID syndrome conditions still lurk. One of the most common symptoms is: fatigue/fatigue.
Post-COVID syndrome is a collection of symptoms, signs, and clinical parameters that are still felt more than 2 weeks after being exposed to COVID-19. This condition does not return to the initial state before the illness. There are 5 most common symptoms that occur in COVID-19 survivors, namely: Fatigue (58%), Headache (44%), Impaired focus (27%), Hair loss/hair loss (25%), Shortness of breath (24 %), other symptoms, such as cough, chest discomfort, cardiovascular disorders (arrhythmia, myocarditis), neurological (dementia, depression, anxiety disorders, attention disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders).
Regarding this matter, Internal Medicine Specialist- RS Pondok dr. Hikmat Pramukti, Sp.PD said, Fatigue is the most common symptom found in post-COVID syndrome. Several studies state that this complaint is still felt by COVID-19 survivors, even after 100 days since being exposed to COVID-19. In patients who had experienced severe lung conditions when exposed to COVID-19, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), two-thirds of them felt significant complaints of fatigue after a year of exposure to COVID-19.
“Complaints that are felt are very similar to chronic fatigue syndrome, which consists of fatigue that makes the body helpless, pain, experiencing neurocognitive disability, sleep disturbances, symptoms of autonomic dysfunction, as well as worsening physical and cognitive conditions,” said Dr. Hikmat Pramukti through release sent on VIVA.co.id
