Toon R., the man who sees the Public Prosecution Service (OM) as one of the leaders of a “criminal family network” from Oss, was arrested on Monday evening. He was found by the police at a holiday park in Ede, Gelderland.
R. is suspected of involvement in firearms trafficking, firearms possession and multiple drug offenses. The Public Prosecution Service sees him as “one of the most wanted men in Brabant”. Police have been trying to arrest him since November 2019.
Recently, the police investigation team received information about the whereabouts of R, the Public Prosecution Service reports. Monday evening around 10 p.m. he was found at a holiday park in Ede in a cottage at a holiday park. He was arrested without any problems, according to the OM.
A total of eight members of the family are suspected in this trial. In the investigation into the “criminal family network”, caravan camps in Oss and Lith were searched in November last year, where hundreds of thousands of pills and about 100 kilograms of MDMA crystals were found. Among other things, three underground spaces with weapons and two homemade explosives were found.
On Thursday, the Public Prosecution Service said in court that on secret sound clips you can hear how Martien R. (brother of Toon R.) and family members on the night of December 31, 2018 on January 1, 2019 automatic firearms were testing. The weapons would have been tried out in the shed on Toon R.’s property.
Next Wednesday there will be a so-called pro forma hearing with the seven other suspects from the investigation. Toon R. will be brought before the examining judge later this week.
