STORLIEN: The police in Trøndelag reported just before 1pm on Thursday that there had been a traffic accident on the E14 close to the national border in Storlien.
– Collisions between oncoming traffic. Emergency services on their way, the police said.
In an update at 1:17 p.m., the police wrote that there was a head-on collision between a lorry train and a passenger car. Two people were in the car. They are awake, but the extent of the damage is unknown.
– The two people in the car have been taken by ambulance. We don’t know where they are being driven yet. The extent of the damage is unknown, but they managed to walk on their own with support, operations manager Ellen Marie Brænne tells Trønder-Avisa.
It is slippery on the spot and the traffic is at a complete standstill.
Overtaking
According to the police, the accident occurred when a Swedish passenger car tried to drive past the foreign-registered train. The passenger car that collided came in the opposite direction, and ended up in the front of the train when the driver got out of the way to avoid a collision with the Swedish passenger car that was oncoming.
The police initially reported that the train was probably stationary when the accident occurred, but this is probably not true
– It seems that the wagon train was in motion, says Brænne.
There was a man and a woman in their 50s in the car that collided. Both are Norwegian citizens.
There is currently no information on the whereabouts of the Swedish car that was involved.
