Head of Ukrainian Military Intelligence Talks About Future Counteroffensive

Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov talked about the future counteroffensive using descriptive figures of speech. Budanov spoke about this in an interview. NV.

To a direct question about when the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian troops could take place, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate refused to answer.

“Unfortunately, I can’t answer your question: not because I don’t know, but because it would be savagery if I do this now – I will reveal the plan to the Russians. It will be strange,” he said.

The journalist asked to answer using “some epithets”.

“It will be fast,” Budanov said.

He stressed that Russia does not have and will not have the potential to conduct a strategic offensive operation in the near future, it has switched to a strategic defense operation.

“Their task is to hold the occupied territories, disrupting our offensive operation to liberate them,” Budanov explained.

The head of the GUR clarified that Bakhmut and Marinka are the exceptions, where the Russians are conducting offensive operations.

He was asked to comment on the information that Ukrainian UAVs are already flying almost to Moscow.

“And why almost? They fly to Moscow and beyond,” the head of military intelligence replied.

On the question of whether Ukraine is ready to destroy objects in Moscow and how this will happen, Budanov asked a counter: “What do you expect from me? Just to reveal to you all, let’s say, our plans and planned operations and activities? ?”

“Let’s do this without details. You understand that safety standards are violated too often in the Russian Federation. This is anomalous, it just doesn’t happen,” Budanov replied.

The head of the GUR did not give up his forecast that Ukrainian troops would enter Crimea in the spring: “I still have a period of time.”

To a clarifying question about how many of his predictions came true, Budanov said that they all came true.

“Absolutely everything. Everything is going according to schedule,” the head of the GUR said.
