The head of the technical department of the Boudewijn Seapark in Sint-Michiels (Bruges) died in a work accident on Tuesday afternoon. The 26-year-old man from Zedelgem was engaged in an intervention at an electricity box near the seal enclosure. He may have been electrocuted.

The industrial accident happened on Tuesday at around 2:50 PM. The young man – who works as head of the technical department in the amusement park – was working on an electricity box. The cause of death is believed to be electrocution, after he touched a cable that still had voltage on it. It was an outside electrical engineer the young man found after the accident.
The labor prosecutor has appointed a law doctor to carry out an external inspection and also appointed a technical advisor. In this way they want to determine the exact technical and cause of death. The Welfare at Work Inspectorate is also on site and is conducting an investigation.
