Head of Riau Health Office, Mimi Yuliani: Tuberculosis is more powerful than Covid-19

ZONAPEKANBARU.COM – Head public health Office (Kadiskes) Province Riau, Mimi Yuliani Nazir said that tuberculosis (TBC / TB) was more powerful than Covid-19.

For information, TB is infectious diseases which is still a major public health problem in Indonesia today.

According to WHO data for 2020, there are still 10 million people in the world who fall sick from TB and it causes 1.2 million people to die from it.

Mimi Yuliani informed that Indonesia is one of 8 countries that accounts for 2/3 of TB cases worldwide and is in second place after India with 845 thousand cases, with a death rate of 98 thousand or the equivalent of 11 deaths per hour.

Head of Health Office Riau revealed, currently Indonesia and even the world are still in the Covid-19 pandemic, with a death rate of 2.4 percent of the 35 thousand cases in the Province Riau.

“Of course, this is a concern for all of us, apart from Covid-19 there are still diseases that have a high mortality rate in our country,” he concluded.
