Head of MUI regarding SARA Hijab of Desert Man ITK Chancellor: Incitement and Primitive

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the Assembly Ulama Indonesia (MUI) Muhammad Cholil Nafis said there must be action for the Chancellor of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) Budi Santosa Purwokartiko for the statement of racism about women wearing hijab as equal to desert humans.

Cholill thinks that statement shouldn’t come from a professor. Moreover, Budi also plays a role as a selector for the Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP), which is funded by the people.

“This kind of person must be given action and given a lesson,” said Cholil via Twitter @cholilnafis, Saturday (30/4).

Cholil believes that Budi is infected with a seditious and primitive disease. He considered that such a figure should not be maintained by a university.

“He was infected with a disease of lust and premise. The college should be cleaned of these racist people,” he said.

Previously, the Chancellor of the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) Budi Santosa Purwokartiko uploaded a racist message on his Facebook account. The message contained his opinion when interviewing candidates for LPDP scholarship recipients.

Budi uses the term “desert hijab” in his writings. The post also drew criticism because it was considered a form of racism.

Irvan Noviandana wrote an open letter to the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani on Saturday (30/4). He reported that Budi’s words were deemed inappropriate to be issued by an LPDP selector.

“Budi Santosa as the party who interviewed the participants of the Higher Education Program, as stated in his writing, said a sentence with SARA nuances that ‘none of the 12 female students interviewed covered their heads like a desert man so that their brains were really open minded,'” Irvan wrote in the statement. .
