President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will soon inaugurate head of the IKN Archipelago. The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) said Jokowi seemed to be preparing a surprise.
“I don’t know yet. The President seems to want to surprise me,” said KSP Main Expert Wandy Tuturoong to reporters, Friday (22/2/2022).
Wandy explained the announcement head of the IKN must not coincide with the publication of the Presidential Decree. To be sure, said Wandy, head of the IKN started working after there was a Presidential Regulation concerning the IKN authority.
“Actually, it can coincide with the Presidential Decree on the IKN Authority. But there is no need for that. What is clear is that he can only work effectively after the Presidential Decree on the Authority is signed,” said Wandy.
In addition, Wandy said the deputy head of the IKN authority does not have to be announced at the same time as the head of the authority. He gave an example of the position of deputy head of KSP.
“You don’t have to. At KSP there is a deputy chief of staff post but it’s still empty,” said Wandy.
Jokowi previously ensured that the head of the IKN authority would be announced soon. The inauguration will be held in the near future.
“Yes, maybe, maybe this, next week too. Maybe next week we will inaugurate,” Jokowi told reporters after the inauguration ceremony of the NasDem Tower, Tuesday (22/2).
Jokowi did not mention the criteria for the head of the authority. He emphasized that the head of the authority would come from non-political parties.
“Non-party politics,” he said.
To note, Jokowi officially signed the IKN Law on Tuesday (15/2). The capital of the archipelago has been agreed in the form of a special regional government unit at the provincial level. The government is called the IKN Authority, which is given to respond to the current development of the digital era in facilitating the implementation of all IKN development affairs.
