Head of EU “Brexit Powers’No Deal’ with the UK”… Report to 27 Member States

EU Summit Report…”Different opinions on key obstacles still remain”
British Prime Minister Johnson also directs ministers to prepare for no-deal
Negotiation deadline coming 13th…the transition period ends on 31st

-On the 11th (local time), EU Commissioner of the European Union, Ursula von der Raien, reported to the heads of the 27 EU member states that the breakdown of negotiations on future relations in Brexit is influential.

According to the Guardian, the Financial Times, and the BBC, Chairman Pon der Leien said at the EU summit that day, “there is a higher possibility of a’no deal’ than an agreement.” I avoided mentioning how much I think the probability of consensus is.

The chairman said that there are still disagreements over three’key obstacles’: fishing rights, fair competition rules, and how the agreement is implemented.

Chairman Von der Rayen and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson met in Brussels, where the EU headquarters are located on the 9th, and agreed on the 13th as the deadline for negotiations on future relations. He said there was a high possibility and instructed to start preparing. The Brexit turnaround ends on the 31st, and Prime Minister Johnson reiterated that the EU is forcing Britain to follow the rules of the Brexit.

He requested a separate call with EU leaders, German Prime Minister Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, but refused by the EU.

It is reported that the EU has dismissed that discussions should only take place through the EU Brexit negotiator, Michelle Barnier, who is in charge of the negotiations.

The EU has pointed out that the UK wants to enjoy the same benefits as member states after leaving the Union.

The EU proposed an emergency plan to the UK on the 10th to prepare for a no-deal. Even if the Brexit transition period ends without agreement, it is to ensure basic air-road connections and mutual fishing in territorial waters.

The UK officially left the EU on January 31st. However, by December 31st, the transition period was established, existing relations with the EU were maintained, and future relations such as trade agreements were negotiated.

If the agreement is broken, the two sides will trade according to the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) starting next year. This means that trade barriers such as customs clearance and tariffs may suddenly be established between the two sides who benefited from a single market and a customs alliance.
