A moment of great fear and apprehension marked the first half of the match between América and Atlético. This Saturday (4), the teams will face each other at the Parque do Sabiá stadium, in Uberlândia, for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship.
Shortly after 30 minutes of play, in a cross on the right side of Atleticano’s attack, there was a head clash between Rubens, from Galo, and Rodriguinho, from Coelho. Both tried to head the ball, but ended up colliding and falling to the ground at the same moment.
As soon as the players fell, the referee stopped the game and requested immediate entry from the medical teams. The América player, in fact, was bleeding near his eyebrow and had difficulty getting up, which increased the concern of both teams. The ambulance was called to take the American athlete to Santa Clara hospital, close to the stadium in Uberlândia.
Rodriguinho seemed to have been unconscious for a few moments. Atlético and América players even took off their shirts to fan their teammates. At the same time, Rubens received treatment close to him, but did not suffer any more serious injuries.
After the ambulance arrived, Rodriguinho was immobilized by the medical team and taken to the hospital. In addition to having his head bandaged, he wore a neck brace. Rubens was taken for treatment in the same ambulance.
After more than ten minutes of interruption, the game ended up resuming with both players substituted.
