The director of the Communications Service Suriname (CDS), Alven Roosveld, has today sent the head and deputy head of the financial affairs department at the CDS ‘on special leave’ with immediate effect.
This is due to irregularities that were found in the department. The editors of Waterkant.net learn that the two had to leave the CDS building under police escort.
The resignation comes shortly after yesterday in De Nationale Assembleé it was announced by NDP member Bouva that the CDS had entered into a collaboration with a ‘ghost company’ called Sranan TV for SRD 350,000. This company, which is registered in the name of Winston van D., turns out to be located in an empty building.
It is not yet clear whether these two cases are related.
