A scam of this type will be judged Monday, in Pau, in immediate appearance after an investigation uncovered the subterfuge of a 22-year-old Palois who was trying to get very expensive treatments to resell them.
The young man went to three pharmacies in the city between the end of January and the beginning of February to buy each time a drug that treats cancer. The treatment is extremely expensive since it costs several thousand euros. Cancer drugs can sometimes be close to 5,000 euros.
CPAM complaint
The false patient presented himself with a dummy prescription signed by a doctor who does not officiate in the Pau urban area. He managed to remove a box in a first pharmacy but he failed in the other two. One of these pharmacies realized that he had already bought the medicine a few days earlier. She alerted the Primary Health Insurance Fund, which is how the investigation began.
The CPAM filed a complaint (the pharmacies are not victims) and the false patient was confused after an investigation carried out meticulously and quickly by the Judicial Police of Pau. Placed in police custody at the end of the week, the young man will be tried in May before the criminal court for fraud.
The prosecution suspects drug trafficking on a larger scale where the Palois would only be a collector of products resold by parallel networks.
