“He who takes a leash has blood on his hands” – TakeToNews Deutsch | Sports | Magazine | Finance | entertainment

According to Victor van der Chijs, the new chairman of the Port Entrepreneurs’ Association, cocaine and other drugs are among the biggest problems in the port of Rotterdam. At his organization Deltalinqs’ annual dinner, he earned applause when he remarked, “Anyone who draws a line now and then has blood on their hands!”

Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and Royal Commissioner Jaap Smit, with entrepreneurs at the table in RDM Onderzeebootloods, overheard the new port manager expressing his concerns about the huge drug shipments. Van der Chijs hopes to strengthen public-private partnerships to stop drugs: “We want to increase the chance of getting caught so much that Rotterdam is no longer on the list of the most popular travel destinations.”

Other problems are the constant cyber threat, inflation, staff shortages, the nitrogen crisis and so on.”

Van der Chijs spoke in particular about the climate targets. “We advocate a Crisis and Reconstruction Law 2.0 with a positive name: the Transitional Law,” he said. “A law to achieve the climate goals on time, which will enable the Netherlands to realize the biggest change since the industrial revolution.” There are only 8 years until 2030. From his point of view it needs a kind of moon landing like in 1969: “That was also realized in 8 years; with imagination, courage and national pride.”

Minister Micky Adriaansens (Economy and Climate) also made it clear that he wanted to do more together: politicians, governments and entrepreneurs.
