He is the one who said I should direct this story myself: Joju George
Pani is the directorial debut of Joju George, who has been in Malayalam cinema for nearly 20 years. Joju finished directing Pani after taking a break from acting for a year. The trailer of the film was well received on social media. Joju George says that his dream of directing was in his heart from the time he was a deputy director.
Joju said that he had thought of directing a film even before Joseph, but after his lead, he put the thought aside. Joju said that when Pani’s story came to his mind, he made it in the form of a script and the cameraman Venu was the first person to hear it. Joju said that at that time there was no intention to guide him and it was Venu who asked him to guide him.
Joju said that he got some confidence then and when he told this story to the director Joshi, he also encouraged. Joju said because he knew the danger of directing, he stayed away from acting for the past year and put everything aside for this film. Joju said this at a press conference held in connection with the promotion of the work.
He began his film career as an assistant director. Then I wanted to direct a film. I was thinking about directing when I was really green in acting. That’s when he was called to play the lead role in the movie Joseph. Then the leadership dream was put aside for the time being.
That’s when the story of this movie comes to mind. I entered a script and listened to Venu sir. At that time there was no expectation of directing the story. It was thought that Venu Chetan could direct it. After reading it, Pulli said, ‘If you do this, it will be better.’ Then I got some confidence.
Joshi sir was also auditioned after the complete script was completed. When he found out that he liked it too, he decided to direct it. This film was completed after taking a break from acting for a year. I didn’t do any other project in between. Joju said he started acting again after the operation was completed.
