Jelle Casier (27) has died. The family of the young man from Londerzeel announced this on Tuesday night via Instagram. Jelle was told a year ago that there was an untreatable tumor in the womb, but he was surprised by the hope that continued to appear afterwards.
“So strong, full of confidence.
You kept going and you didn’t let go
How often that endless laughter
Appear on your face
Even when your heart was in the dark
Did you keep stealing in the light?
Now take it easy.”
With these moving words on Instagram, Jelle’s sisters Jasmin and Jente say goodbye to their older brother. ‘#waarisdeboit’ was the hashtag that became Jelle Casier’s trademark and he stood for the hope he showed until the end. He saw life as one big party. (read more under the Instagram post)
That brought him to the Tomorrowland and Paradise City stages this summer as DJ Casier. Jelle’s summer should have peaked at Pukkelpop, but unfortunately time and his illness caught up with him. Studio Brussels vocalist Flo Windey dedicated a song to Jelle in the Boiler tent with Breathe by Camelphat. (read more under the Instagram post)
The youth channel also mourns the death of Jelle Casier on its social media channels. “When we met Jelle at Tomorrowland, we asked him: ‘What can we do with the audience of Studio Brussel to give you the summer of your life?’ His response was, “The #whereisdeboit hashtag just exploded.” So let yourself enter the comments with #waarisdeboit, as a tribute to Jelle,” writes Studio Brussel on Facebook.
