He was the player in Rajuvetan’s team, who didn’t shake my hand because he didn’t see me: Basil
The Kerala Super League final was the most talked about event on social media last night. Forza Kochi, owned by Prithviraj, and brand ambassador Basil Joseph Calicut FC faced off in the final. But the presentation of the match after the final was more talked about than the match itself.
When Prithviraj and Basil Joseph were together at the award ceremony, a player shook hands with Prithviraj and it became news all over social media. Earlier, many discussed this issue related to Basil trolling Tovinok when he made the same mistake during the pooja of the movie Marunamas.
But Basil Joseph says that it was the player in Prithvi’s team who did not give his hand at that time. Basil said that the player from Prithviraj’s team was in that picture and that’s why he shook hands only with Prithvi. Not only that, Basil said that there were people of good height standing on this side of him and he didn’t pay attention in the meantime.
Basil said that if he had gone to a higher place he would have seen, and there was no need to say more. Basil Joseph said this in an interview given to Club FM as part of the promotion of his new film Sukkhdarshini.
“After I won the final, I saw a lot of videos going on of me when a player left without giving me a handshake. To be honest he is a player in Rajuvetan team. That’s why he probably bought the handshake only from Rajuvettan. It is not known if that is the case.
Or maybe you’ve never seen me. Because there is someone taller than me on the other side, and Rajuvetan on this side. I was standing in the middle of them. Then they wouldn’t have noticed me. If I had gone to a higher place, I would have seen it sometimes. said Basil Joseph.

Future, I envision more collaborations between the film industry and sports entities, which can help amplify the reach of both. With celebrities investing in sports teams, we can expect increased coverage, better talent scouting, and ultimately a growing interest in sports among the audience. The synergy between film and sports can inspire the next generation and foster a vibrant sporting culture in Kerala.
Basil, what inspired you to participate in the Kerala Super League and what do you think about the growing popularity of celebrity-owned teams in regional sports leagues?
Basil: I have always been passionate about sports, especially football. The Kerala Super League gave me an opportunity to not only support the sport but also connect with my fans on a more personal level. Plus, the league has seen immense growth in recent years, and it was exciting to be a part of it. As for celebrity-owned teams, it’s great to see celebrities using their popularity to promote the sport and encourage participation. It also helps raise the standard of competition and generates more interest among the public.
What do you think about the incident where a player from your team allegedly didn’t shake hands with Prithviraj after the match? Do you think there was any ill-intent or was it just a case of not being seen?
Basil: It’s unfortunate that such an incident happened, but I believe it was just a case of not being seen. We were all caught up in the excitement of the moment and might have missed each other in the crowd. There was no malice involved, I’m sure. As for the video going viral, I think it’s just a part of the game. These things happen, and we should focus on the positives and move forward.
Prithviraj, as a well-known actor and sports enthusiast, why did you decide to invest in a football team? What impact do you hope to make with Forza Kochi?
Prithviraj: I’ve always been a fan of football and wanted to contribute to the growth of the sport in Kerala. The Kerala Super League provided the perfect platform to do so. With Forza Kochi, we aim to inspire youngsters to take up the sport seriously and provide them with opportunities to showcase their talent. We also want to make football more accessible to the masses and bring people together through the spirit of the game.
Sports and cinema have always shared a strong bond in Kerala. How do you see this connection evolving in the future?
Prithviraj: Cinema and sports have always been deeply intertwined in Kerala’s cultural fabric. The fusion of these two powerful mediums can only lead to positive outcomes. As for the
