Incidents of violence against minors, even under the age of 10, are increasing day by day. This time the victim was a 4-year-old, on the autism spectrum, who was attacked by two 5-year-olds, who broke his teeth and fractured his jaw.
Nikos Alexandris, lawyer for the 4-year-old’s family, spoke to ANT1 about the wood the 4-year-old ate. “It’s one of the worst incidents I’ve handled, especially in terms of the circumstances and the people involved. We are talking about a child with special needs, who has parallel support and this person must accompany him even during the break. I don’t know where he was. The child was a victim of violence during the break,” he said.
In fact, the school tried to downplay the incident. As his family and their lawyer complained, “the school not only did not protect the child as it should, but tried to downplay the incident. He called the parents and said there was some blood coming out of the child’s mouth and they went and saw the child without teeth.”

As Mr. Alexandris added, “think about how important it is for the psyche of this child with special needs, that he will stay like this for 2-3 years, until his next teeth come out and until then he will not be able to eat”.
“He tripped and fell, the school said, while the child suffered a fractured jaw, it’s not at all easy for something like this to happen. He was attacked with vicious blows by the children. It doesn’t matter if 5 year olds do some martial art, I’m not endorsing that. As a society, we must see where we are limping,” said the lawyer.
The advocate of the 4-year-old’s family emphasized that since the day of the incident, “the child not only does not want to go to school, he does not want to go out of the house, he does not even want to go to the cribs. His mother, who is an educator, is trying to get this child with special needs back into society.”
