Claiming that his mother is poorly cared for, a 50-year-old living in Nîmes, in the Gard, was arrested by the police for threatening to blow up the hospital where she is being cared for, reports the newspaper Midi-Free. The man seems to be suffering from serious psychological or even psychiatric disorders.
If the management of the hospital warned the police, it is because the man was not at his first attempt. He indeed regularly telephoned this hospital establishment in Bar-le-Duc, in the department of Meuse, uttering threats. After ignoring the man’s comments for a while, staff eventually reported his comments to the police.
Psychological and psychiatric disorders
This Wednesday, January 25, 2023, officials from the south of France therefore went to the residential area of Nîmes where the man lives to arrest him and place him in police custody. According to our colleagues from Midi-Libre, this former member of the French armed forces suffers from significant psychological and psychiatric disorders.
Faced with the police, the fifty-year-old however tried to defend himself by affirming that his threats were linked to the fact that his mother was poorly treated in this hospital. However, it seems unlikely that things would have improved had they followed through on his threats.
