Actor Jan Révai, who is remembered by Czech audiences mainly thanks to his role in Filip Renč Rebelová’s film musical, does not let anyone into his privacy. But this time he made a small exception and spoke to eXtra.cz about his sons Jakub and Matěj.
Back to the musical
Actor and former dancer Jan Révai dusted off his tap shoes and returned to the stage of the Hybernia Theater in a renewed performance of the cult of the musical Singing in the Rainwhich will premiere soon. “I don’t play in musicals anymore, and I actually returned to this musical. Eleven years ago, we premiered in Liberec at the FX Šalda Theater and then another five years in Budějovice at the Metropol, so we have already played this show, so I returned with joy that we will finally play it in Prague, because such a classic as Singing in the Rain is definitely worth it,” Jan Révai revealed to eXtra.cz.
During a challenging dance number to the song Good Morning Jan and his colleagues gasped. “It’s challenging and it’s quite a fast pace, although we have faster numbers, but you know, I’m going to sweat, I’m not the youngest anymore” said the actor with a smile, who switched from musicals to drama, which is closer to his heart.
Are they staggering?
With my partner, actress and screenwriter Zuzana Šulajová, the star of the film Rebel is raising two sons, Jakub and Matěj. But if they will follow in the footsteps of their famous parents, the actor has no idea yet. “I don’t know. I don’t push them to do it, I don’t take them anywhere, I don’t send them anywhere. They just play with each other, but if I could see any assumptions in them… I think that if I had seen them, I would have already done something “ revealed to Révai.
“I don’t even care about it, it seems to me that it is unnecessary and when they want, they will choose” said the actor, who last appeared in the Czech film Banger. Although Jan Révai is very protective of his privacy, from time to time he shows a picture of his sons on Instagram and while they may not take over their parents’ trade, they certainly make their dad happy and proud of them.
