After a series of proceedings that included posing as interested in what he was selling, the police arrested a 20-year-old man accused of leading a youth gang that stole motorcycles and then sold their parts through the Marketplace of the social network Facebook.
Members of Police Station 16 of Villa Ponsatti raided the defendant’s house, located at 11 and 74 after a series of inquiries regarding the activity that the subject promoted on social networks.
The case began last April when a man reported that a motorcycle, Motomel c150 brand, was stolen from the front yard of his house at night.
After inquiries and analysis of the security cameras in the area, the author could be seen dragging the vehicle. In addition, in the social network Facebook, shortly afterwards, parts of the dismantled motorcycle were found offered for sale. “The victim recognized his roll by scratches, some stickers and his LED lights,” said a police chief. After finding the profile of the person who offered it, plus the collection of different evidence, the main suspect was identified and his house was searched.
According to what was indicated, a large number of motorcycle parts were seized from the house, such as seats, sets of tires, handlebars, footrests, dashboards and exhausts, allegedly stolen in different events.
Investigators suspect that the detainee recruited minors to steal the motorcycles and then he was in charge of selling their parts over the internet.
The UFI 5 of the La Plata Judicial Department intervenes in this case.
