The French justice sentenced this Friday to 10 months in prison a young man who had registered as he cut the throat and dismembered a cat and had shared it on the Snapchat social network.

The sentence was issued by a court of the municipality of Sarreguemines (in the north-east, near the border with Germany) and also provides for the payment of a fine of 1,200 euros, the obligation to undergo psychiatric treatment, look for work and ban on owning a pet for the rest of your life.
Of the total ten months, the sentenced person must spend at least 4 months in prison and the rest on probation, according to Francebleu radio.
The attacker, 20, and a resident of the town of Freyming-Merlebach, posted several videos on the Snapchat social network on October 31st in which he was seen slaughtering a cat. Several users reported him and he was soon identified and arrested by the police.
A long history of animal cruelty
In court, the young man said that the cat was his pet and that he killed it with a shotgun “because it was free everywhere”. After killing the animal, he dismembered it in his kitchen sink, recording it all in a video that he then posted on Snapchat.
