Matthew Robson from Taunton, England, was born in 1992. During his lifetime, his father Pete spent about 5,000 pounds (149,000 crowns) on 28 bottles of Macallan single malt whiskey for his birthday. The value of the collection, meanwhile, has risen to more than £ 40,000 (about CZK 1.2 million).

The young man himself admits that it was probably not the best gift for the boy, but due to “strict instructions not to open the bottles”, the collection became an advantageous financial reserve.
–
“I got it (a bottle) for my birthday every year,” Matthew said. “I considered it a rather eccentric gift because I was too young to start drinking alcohol,” he continued. “But I was given strict instructions never to ever open them. I tried my best and they all remained intact, “he added.
–
Matthew’s father, Pete, from Milnathort, Scotland, said he bought the first bottle of whiskey to celebrate his son’s birth in 1974.
–
“I thought it might be interesting if I bought one every year and had 18 bottles of 18-year-old whiskey on his 18th birthday,” he said.
–
“It was not the only gift he received from us. It was meant as an original gift, but it was also a little lucky that we continued to do so, ”he explained.
–
Mathew hopes to sell the collection for £ 40,000 now and make the money as a deposit to buy a house. The collection is sold by broker Mark Littler. According to him, the value of Macallan whiskey has increased significantly over the past five to ten years, and he described Robson’s collection as “perfect”. According to him, a number of potential buyers have already shown interest, mostly from New York or Asia.
