He quits his job as a subject matter expert on the healthcare platform because he believes the system is indefensible

One of Norway’s largest IT projects, the Helseplattformen computer system, will be put into use at the St. Olav hospital in Trondheim on 12 November. As early as July, department head Åsmund Straum communicated his concern that the system affects patients.

Åsmund Straum is head of radiology at the St. Olav hospital in Trondheim. In addition to this position, he held a part-time position as a subject matter expert in the healthcare platform until July of this year. He then resigned from his job as a subject matter expert because he believes the new computer system will affect patients.

Radiologist and department head of the diagnostic imaging clinic, Åsmund Straum, clicks on the computer system of Helseplattformen.
