There are ways and ways to ask for marriage, usually with romantic songs and flowers, or with more or less daring surprises for the bride-to-be. But this episode in Murcia drew attention to the surreal: a man in a coffin dressed as Darth Vader and accompanied by a marching band who played John Williams’ Imperial March.
Subsequently, the young man pulled out a chalkboard where he said “I hope you say no”. And afterwards he approached the young woman who was on a terrace and taking off her mask, he gave her the ring.
The answer was yes, and they both leave the scene in the back of a truck to the rhythm of Abba, with the music of the band.
